No matter where I travel in the world it’s apparent that successful businesses never miss the opportunity to market their products.
While vacationing in Venice, Italy recently I attended a glass-blowing demonstration of the famous Murano glass. As the glass blower showed his expertise that takes 20 years to master, a narrator explained the process stressing the superiority of their glass over imitators.
Once the demo ended we were escorted to a room where beautiful samples of wine decanters, vases, and trays were displayed. Another speaker explained the differences in the many colors and offered discounts if we made purchases during our visit. To sweeten the deal, the salesman promised a certificate of authenticity, free shipping and free replacement in case of breakage.
We were led from this room through the gift shop where sales clerks and sales managers stood ready to take our orders and make it easy for us to buy.
Offering free demonstrations of how their products are created is a common practice in many companies, but these demos are always directed at marketing their products.
As gift basket designers we must always market as well. Whether you offer a free demo at your local library or present a complimentary gift basket to your local charity, always continue to market to ensure future sales.
If you like the information you get from this blog and want to show your appreciation, buy me a cup of coffee. Thank you.
